Kindergarten – 6th Grade Unique Program Elements
- Family field trips supported by the Mark West PTA
- Day on Campus (optional) where all home school students come to our classroom for a day
of school the includes: Guided writing instruction, library time, computer lab, art docent
lessons, gardening, jazzercise, cooking, arts and crafts and physical education
- Students may participate in chorus and instrumental music programs including Suzuki violin
instruction taught by credentialed music teachers
- Students who qualify may participate in the Gifted and Talented Education program
7th and 8th Grade - Unique Program Elements
7th and 8th grades present new challenges to the home study family. Some subject material may
be a challenge for the parent-educator. Families are beginning to look ahead to high school and
may want to start transitioning their student into a classroom setting. Mark West Charter School
will work with your family to determine the best program for you and your student.
Options include:
- Full-time home study program
- Integration into elective classes for 6th – 8th grade students
- Science Camp, Angel Island, and other optional trips for 7th and 8th graders
- Competitive sports team participation
